Carcinus provides key environmental services to the renewable energy sector for projects including offshore wind, tidal energy and wave energy developments. Our services including site selection and feasibility, baseline ecological characterisation surveys, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - scoping and assessment, Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) and post-consent monitoring.
Our consultants have extensive experience in relation to the consenting, licensing and planning requirements of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and smaller energy generation schemes and can support clients throughout the project life from feasibility, through the Development Consent Order (DCO) process and beyond to post-consent requirements. We maintain close working relationships with environmental regulators and Government agencies and provide expert advice to our clients to ensure their projects are compliant with relevant regulation. We regularly undertake regulatory and stakeholder consultation on behalf of our clients and have provided client support at public enquiries and examinations.
Our survey teams undertake ecological and environmental surveys in support of renewable energy developers. Our surveys are planned to ensure regulatory approval, utilising industry best-practice and the latest technologies. Carcinus provides fisheries liaison services between developers and commercial fisheries bodies and fishermen.
We are familiar with the need for sensitivity and are capable of interpreting vessel monitoring systems (VMS) data to assess fishing activity within and near development areas. Our work includes both active monitoring on-board vessels and statistically analysing landing records.
