Our freshwater and marine environmental consultants are highly experienced in the project management and delivery of aquatic aspects of Scoping, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitat Regulations Appraisal (HRA) for developers operating in both freshwater and marine aquatic environments. In addition to delivering EIA and HRA aspects of a project, Carcinus delivers associated consent, licensing and permitting requirements including Environmental Statements (ES) and associated Development Consent Order (DCO) supporting documentation. Carcinus also provides services in relation to marine licensing requirements for both pre-consent stage activities such as baseline ecology surveys and support on discharge marine licence conditions during the operational phase of a project.

Accurate Positioning of Intertidal Quadrat

Intertidal Ecology Surveys for the Port of Dover

Carcinus Ltd was contracted by the Port of Dover to complete biannual intertidal ecology surveys of the littoral zones of several sites in Dover.

Thames Temporary Berth Installation

Carcinus was contracted to complete an Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) to assess the potential impacts of a temporary berth installation in the river Thames. Building works are scheduled on a riverside property, and the nature of the site requires a barge to facilitate the movement of construction materials and provide additional working space.

East Tipner Environmental Impact Assessment

We were recently contracted to conduct an ecological survey of the intertidal mudflat at East Tipner, Portsmouth. Our client was applying for planning permission to redevelop the brownfield land adjacent to the area, and our survey results have since been used to inform an Environmental Statement in support of the application.

Southport Marine Lake

Carcinus were recently contracted to complete Marine Ecology Surveys and input to the EIA for a new Marine Lake Events Centre in Southport. This survey took the form of a Phase I Habitat Survey, followed by a Secondary Extended Phase I and Fish Ecology survey to characterise the intertidal communities, sediments, and habitats in the area. The surveys were used to inform an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed development, for which Carcinus provided support in the form of scoping and delivery of an Environmental Statement chapter.

Everton Football Club’s brand new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock has been shortlisted as a host stadium as part of the UK & Ireland’s bid to host the #UEFAEuro2028 Championships. Carcinus Ltd are proud to have supported the preparation of an Environmental Statement for the project and look forward to seeing the construction of the stadium progress!

Shoreline Surveys at Southend-On-Sea and Swansea Bay
